    Default Borax and suds

Anyone with a waterfall have problems with suds after adding borax. I have a chlorine generator but still use borax and baking soda for PH and Alkalinty. The suds cover the pool and last for days. I now no longer run the waterfall after adding borax but I miss them. Morning coffee just isn't the same without the sound of falling water. Any suggestions??

Are we talking about 20 Mule team Borax, which has no additives, or something else?

Foaming is an indication of a problem. Have you posted your numbers?

I've been using Borax for three seasons now, and never had any sort of bubbles/foam etc. Do you use a non Polyquat algecide or water clarifier? They will cause foam under certain conditions.

I don't use anything else. I do put asorbic acid for stains now and then, buts about it. I put it straight in the skimmer this time and it was a lot better.

    Thanks for the reply,

Yes it was just the regular 20 mule team borax.

I have a spillover spa and 2 waterfalls (and a few deck jets and bubblers) and I have NO foaming and have been using Borax for a while now at 50 ppm! (I'm the one that started The Great Tetraborate Experiment in the China Shop!)
Your foaming is NOT from the borax. What is your calcium hardness? How high is your FC? Post a full set of test results and perhaps we can figure out why your pool is foaming. Are you sure you are using 20 mule team borax in the green box and not something like Boraxo (which is a soap)?
