Question Replacing cartridge filters with generic brand

It's time to replace my cartridge filters. No question.

I have 4 Jandy CL 580 filters. Looks like they're about $140 each to replace. But I see an off-brand on ebay for half that. They are advertised as a replacement and "not an authentic Jandy cartridge".

Any experience or opinions about going generic here?

    Thanks and regards,
    Paul

The paperback is very interesting, but I find it will never replace the hardcover book: it makes a very poor doorstop.

Default Re: Replacing cartridge filters with generic brand

I have a pentair filter. I don't know how much of a lesser or generic brand the Unicel brand is to the original Pentair brand, but I notice no difference, quality-wise. Maybe there's not much, I really don't see too much price difference.

However, I do see a pretty big price break buying on ebay, and that's what I now do ...
