I don't know what kind of stains your neighbor had, but nature 2 puts copper in the water, so that is adding metals. I wonder if the chemistry in their pool was off before they got the nature 2??? Iron stains ususally show up as brown, and copper as blue or green. Magnese sometimes shows up as black. Anyway you can have a salt water generator. It will have nothing to do with staining your pool as long as you use the correct salt. If you are filling from a well, and you think there imay be metals in the water, then just add a sequestering agent when filling before putting in the chlorine. If you have any problems we can help you.

Where are the black stains? Are they just at the waterline and in the skimmer, or did the whole pool stain?
