Ok whats floating in my pool?

the only reason i can see why this happened is,
faulty test kit!

I was showing high chlorine levels 3.0+ so i lowered then shut off the chlorine supply.. this went on for two weeks and i still showed a 3.0+ chlorine level.

time for a new test kit!

3.0 is not a high chlorine level under any circumstances, but if you have any stabilizer at all in your pool, it's not nearly enough to keep your pool clean, especially if you "shut off the chlorine supply". What is your CYA level?
