Default Changing configuration of IG pool....

...I was thinking today ....if it was possible that when we replace our liner in a couple of years...is it possible to fill in the deep end to decrease the depth from 8.5 feet to about 5 feet?.....I'd rather have a sport type of pool since the deep end is too deep for kids to play games in......the pool is 16X32 oval/......3 feet shallow end with slope to 8>5 in the deep end.......can something like this be done? what kind of ball park cost?........or am I just dreaming!

Heather, it can be done very easily! We do a couple of them each year. Cost will depend on the cost of fill material (we use gravel but anything that has low compaction will do), and the floor surface (vermiculite and cement will cost more than sand). The actual cost will be determined by the folks doing the work, all you have to do is ask a few PBs in the area for a quote, then pick the best one for you. If you plan on doing it yourself, just ask me and I'll give you a full rundown on what's involved, and any 'snafu' s which may arise.

As long as you don't absolutely have to have the diving well, I think sport pools allow you to get more use and enjoyment from your pool

How about the opposite? Digging an existing vinyl pool deeper?

I would argue that you've limited yourself to a volleyball pool. Not that it's bad if that's what you know you want, but our pool is similar to what you have and we had a big party last night with a diving contest and a 2 hour volleyball match. I can't see how you'd get more use or enjoyment from a more limited pool. Unless all you want to do is play volleyball, then I guess you would have a better court.

I have to agree with Jeffski too. I have alot of parties and the diving and jumping seems to be the main focus almost everytime. It is alot of fun watching the kids learn how to dive and do flips off the diving board. I think my pool would get a lot less use if it was shallow. Just my opinion.
