    Default Pump and filter combo.

    Hi All,
I need to replace my pump and filter assy. I have a gunite kidney shaped pool that is 10ft at the deep end and 4ft at shallow end and holds 28000 gallons of water. I currently have a Swimquip de filter assy that has 60 square ft of filter capacity. The pump is 1.5 hp Marlow. The system works very well, but is old and the grids are going bad along with other issues. I would like to know what would work best for a replacement.(hope to get more efficient)
    Thanks in advance John

from what I've learned here so far is that a smaller hp rated pump is better to use, as it does not blow debris through the filter and back into the pool. Hayward is what was suggested to me and others as a good replacement pump. there are 3/4, 1, 1.5, and 2hp pumps. Oh, and 2 speed, is better that the one speed. Hopes this helps.
