Default Will CYA granules on bottom of vinyl pool cause problem?

I added about 3 cups of stabilizer granules (CYA from Wal-Mart) yesterday. Today I went to sweep pool bottom today and found lots of white granules on the pool bottom.

CAUSE: I'm using recirculate setting on my filter. I'm not using my filter yet per separate backwash waste water thread I posted.

QUESTION: Will CYA granules eat my liner for breakfast?
Should I just vacuum it up into the filter ASAP then backwash to clear media (including most the CYA) just to protect the liner?

I'm a bit afraid any reply will be too late. I've just been slammed with too many projects (most of them pool related) to get chemicals and filter and pool rail and ... all worked out.

Good news is my water is still pretty clear, but debris (including CYA granules) is definitely collecting on my pool bottom.
    Thanks! -ZephanS

Crud. Matt4x4 already answered part of my question on my 12x24x54 AG construction thread... and his answer doesn't sound promising for me.
Matt4x4 (7/4/2007)> Your CYA will need several days to a week before it gives you any sort of indication (very slow at dissolving) - place it in a sock and tie it off the stairs or else it will harm liner.
Dang ! I have a sock that would work great. Now I need to vacuum the granules (along with all the other crud) and hope damage is minimal.

It's too late for me to do this safely tonight. Hopefully tomorrow early morning before I go to work... no wait, tomorrow I have a training class all day (*sigh*). It's almost Monday... I can feel it already.
    Thanks! -ZephanS

I did the same thing and had it all over the bottom of my pool for about 1.5 days. It is dissolved now and does not seem to have caused any issues. It actually says on the container to broadcast it around the pool, although I will use a nylon sock next time, as it looked unsitely

    cheers

Cyanuric Acid IS an acid. It is not as strong (by weight) as Trichlor (and not even close to Muriatic Acid) and fortunately it dissolves slowly, but if it is touching the liner especially on the bottom where there may be poor circulation, then it can be harmful locally. Perhaps it would only be a problem if this were done repeatedly, but it's best not to take the chance and to use the nylon sock instead.

I always add cya slowly directly into skimmer with pump basket removed. This seems to work fine. Any problems with this method that I am not aware of?

That's the method that I use, as well. Just make sure you're pouring it in at a slow enough rate that it doesn't clump up in the pipes before it gets to your filter.

also remember not to backwash your filter for a week or so after the CYA addition to keep from washing it right back out.

I just did this by taking the cya and a bucket of water and mixed until the water was thicker then added it through the slowly thorugh the skimmer. There was alot left in the bucket but I just repeated it until most was dissolved then I just scooped the rest in the skimmer slowly. I wish I would have read about the nylon first.

What you did was fine. I have always added my cya directly to my skimmer and have never had a problem. Just remember not to backwash for a week or so or you will just backwash the cya right out.
