Default Best time to run pump / SWCG?

My electrical rates are lower from 9pm to 9am and I'm currently running my pump for 6 hours a day .
Is it better to run the pump in the evening from 9pm to 3am or in the monring from 2am to 9am. Since I have a SWCG my though was to run it as late as possible into the moring so it starts the day with a good dose of chlorine. would it be better to get chlorine back into is asap after the sun has cooked it off ?

or buy some more tippers for my timer and split it into 9pm to 12am and then again from 6am to 9am ??? ohh the options are unlimited I guess.

    opinions?

If the cheaper rates are from 9pm to 9am you could turn on the pump when you went to bed at night c. 9-10pm and turn if off when you get up c.6-7am. That is what I do. Then before I turn it on again I make sure I backwash the filter.

    I only need about a 6 hour run time. It's on a timer .

    You backwash every day ?

I backwash pretty much everyday. I don't rely on the pressure gauge. I do it to keep the filter clean.

    Philbo,
I'd split it into the two periods. That will even out your chlorine additions more than a single period and minimize the time period over which you're not adding any chlorine.

The morning period should end before an hour or two before the sun hits the pool. That way the chlorine will do it's job before being eaten by sunlight.

That seems excessive. Besides that, a somewhat dirty sand or DE filter will filter better than a clean one. The dirt becomes an additional, very fine filter medium.
