    Default Pool Rover Plus Help!

Just purchased the Rover Plus from Costco and used in pool last night (16' x 28' - 3-6 deep - vinyl liner). It completely missed one section in low end and one section in deep end. The owners manual is very generic and apparently the only setting I have to worry about is the dial (played with that thru cycle) on the transformer. The front wheels of the unit have this removable "pin" that makes one wheel fairly stationary - the other wheel slides back and forth 3" or so. Should that pin be out so both wheels slide back and forth? Should both wheels be pinned so the unit now has 4 stationary wheels?

Thanks for your help ~ Paul

No! The pin needs to be in 1 side or the other so it makes K-turns. Alternate the pin after every use. There are 2 basic adjustment to this cleaner. The timer adjustment (the dial how often it turns around) and where you drop the cleaner in (long edge of the pool in the middle generally). Try different variations of both and until you find the setting that works best. I would also not be too concerned about small spots it misses (did it miss an area the size of a sheet of newspaper or a king sized bed?), just brush the dirt towards the middle. No cleaner save the remote controlled ones can provide 100% coverage.

Thanks for the reply - I'll try it in a different location (The missed spot was about the size of a newspaper). Do you use the pin location closest to the body of the unit or furthest away (more play or less play)?

I've had one for 4 years and I pull the wheel away from the unit and put the pin behind the wheel. It seems to not tangle the cord as much and works well in my 20 x 40 pool. If I am outside, I will switch the pin from one side to the other half way through the cycle.

I also set my timer just long enough for it to run the length of the pool. Once you have it set you don't have to mess with it again.

I also run mine for two cycles and it usually gets the whole pool. Sometimes it will miss the long edges but I can use my leaf pool to get it position to run tight against the 90 deg edge right before I take it out of the pool.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine....it was the best 500.00 I have ever spent!!

I have to say I just got my Pool Rover in and am running it now. Looks to be very promising....

SLS - If you set it to run the length of your 40' pool and it ends up going side to side, or a shorter distance before it hits a wall, doesn't it spend an extended time idle waiting for the cycle to change? (maybe I'm to anal about this thing - I did read some post that said if you watch these auto cleaners you'll go nuts!!

Yes... you absolutely want to allow enough time for length to length travel. The "idle time" is no big deal, it's still filtering and polishing the water even if it's not picking up debris.
