    Unhappy Re: changing filter sand

I have the same symptoms after changing my sand on Saturday. I went back and read the book on the filter and it said to fill the tank halfway with water before adding the sand. I just loaded up the sand and I think having the water in the tank would have helped to eliminate the air in the sand.........

    Cool Re: changing filter sand

Ken, welcome to the forum!! Having the water in the tank also helps reduce the strain on the laterals in the bottom from the sand being dumped in.

try un screwing the pressure guage from the filter to let some of the air bleed out.

After draining the water out, you should be in "backwash" mode when you turn on your pump. This will make the filter tank fill with water from the bottom up making life easier on the laterals at the bottom and less likely to cause a crack/break on one of the laterals. If you have an air bleeder, keep that open until water starts coming out of it, and then close it. Then you should be good to turn the pump off and switch back over to "Filter" and turn the pump back on.
