Default DE in Pool after recharge

    All,
I would imagine this has been covered multiple times. For some reason my search syntax did not produce anything. Please point me to some previous posts if possible.

Everytime I recharge my filter, StarBright DE-50, there is noticable DE on the pool bottom. I am adding 4 pounds of DE while the pump is on it's highest speed. This is my first pool and could really use help with the filter.

    Thanks,
    -Ron

In order for it to get to the pool, you have to have a leak in the filter. Maybe one of the screens has a small tear or is not seated all the way on the tube.

    How old are the screens?

The next time I take the filter apart I will inspect it very carefully. I believe the filter is only 5 years old. How long should the Fins last anyway?

    Thanks,

Thumbs up Re: DE in Pool after recharge

Ron, another source is the multiport. If it only happens when you add the DE, I'd say that the multi is the reason. Also, have you tried charging the filter on 'low'?

I don't think I have a MultiPort. But the next DE change will be done on low.
