    Default Is My TA ok?

    I have an 18.5k gallon fiberglass pool. I have a de filter pump.

    My readings are: (I use a HTC test kit, I have a Taylor K-2006 on order)

    FC = 2
    CYA = 30
    TA = 220
    PH = 7.5
    CH = 450

    a few hours before this my Ph was about 7.8 and TA was about 200. I thought to lower the TA and the PH. As you can see my Ph is lower but my TA went up.

    I used a granular PH Down that's supposed to lower both PH and TA. I do say, though, the pool looks beautifully clear. Is these readings ok, or should I continue to try lower the TA? I also use the PACE 3" pucks in a floater. I drained and refilled the pool in late May and changed out the DE.

    This is my first post here and this forum, which I found by accident, has been very valuable. I have owned a pool for almost 4 years now. It was orignally built in 1972 as a plaster pool, and a couple of years ago, after I bought this house, I had the pool converted to fiberglass. I live in Southern Calif., so I get pleanty of sun and little of rain in the pool.

    Thanks,

    Sam

    Please read the sections on lowering T/A and the various posts on lowering T/A.

    220 is too high for any pool. F/G SHOULD be OK with a T/A of 80-180, just like a vinyl pool.
