    Default Intex SWG

Anyone here use one of these yet? I see they are for all AGP, are not the passive cell type but are installed inline, have controllers, etc. Any info?

hi! Yes - I got one last week, for my 20x12 oval Intex AGP. I was really pleased, until I got constant 'no chlorine' readings. Took the water to get properly tested (I was only using strips) and they said that because i had no stabiliser, the chlorine was getting used up immediately. So...I suppose I am still pleased with the SWG...but then, when I got home with the stabiliser and instructions to add it slowly through the skimmer - the pump broke!!!!!
So, NOW, I am waiting till next tuesday when the new pump will arrive - but meanwhile I have a really slimy pool. I am about to post a question of my own now - what to do with a slimy pool to stop it getting even slimier in the next four days. That said - it doesnt really bare any long term info on the Intex machine. I am presuming it will work fine when everything else does!

Add lots and lots of bleach and stir it around. If you have a submersible sump pump (IT HAS TO BE CLEAN!!!!) put it in to keep the water moving, but GET YOUR CHLORINE UP! (or plan on draining and washing your pool).

Your water will only get worse.

Hi, just an update that we purchased one of these and installed. This is the stand alone SWG unit that works inline up to 14600 gals. This has been installed since 7/9, running since 7/10 (needed to be sure salt levels were up before turning on) We did in fact shock the pool up to 15ppm before starting up due to a recent storm that dumped leaves, etc into the pool past the cover and we were heading off on vacation.

So far we had good outcome running it on 4hrs per day (pump runs 12 on a separate timer) for almost a week at 3ppm and then we got more rain, cloudy days and very cold nights (45-49deg F.) The pool remained covered, the water temp dropped into the low-mid 70s by last Thursday (7/12) and the swg continued on its timer cycles of 4hr per day through that weather. The FC ended up at 10ppm by 7/17 so 2 days ago I dropped the timer down to 2hr per day and left the cover off in sunlight and warmer temps to burn some FC.

Water temp is up to 86F and FC stands at 4ppm as of last night. I'm going to continue to monitor as we are expecting 90F upwards towards 100 deg by Wednesday next week.

This unit was very inexpensive so may be an option for those with smaller pools 14600 gals and under who would like to go swg but cannot foot the expense of the larger units. I'm still waiting to see how well it performs, but so far only minor adjustments have been required and no CC detected. I haven't had to dump any liquid chlorine in anywhere except my Maytag since 7/9.
