    Default Pool Service in Arizona

I've gotten so much information from this board and it has been priceless. I've even been able to help a lot of my friends get their pools back after being green and yucky.

However, I have friends that bought a house with a pool and live WAY too far for me to help. I went over there last night and they were overwhelmed.
CYA was about 450. I talked to them about partial draining and I could tell they thought I was out of my mind. Usually I'll just say "just my recommendation, do what you want- I'll be back when it's green".
They don't want to mess with the chemicals at all though.

How do I find a pool service here that knows what they're talking about?
I'm not even sure I posted this in the right place.
If anyone on the board has a company they recommend, please private message me or email me at wedidit_2000@yahoo.com There's and underscore between wedidit_2000 but it doesn't show because of the underline.
As a side note- the previous owner said she had a wonderful pool guy. Every O ring in the pump area was shot. There was a chunk of sprinkler head stuck in the barracuda. I don't know what the sand in the filter is like- the pressure gauge was broken. When they finally replaced it, it only goes above 4 when you adjust the flow to the jets...which is a nightmare because how do you know if the pressure is from dirty sand or 'ooops, you just moved the valve to the jets' - which had happened because it's at knee level- loose and leaking.
Too much for me when I'm too far away. Gah!

CYA at 450 ppm? Or did you mean Calcium Hardness?
I don't know of any CYA test kits that allow you to test higher than 100 ppm, unless you're diluting your water sample.

How about getting your friend to log on to this site, or the other active site, www.troublefreepools.com.
They are so much better knowing how to maintain their own pool and will owe you MORE for helping them learn how to take care of their own pool.

I can check with my local reps to see who they would recommend.

Yes, I diluted. So even with diluting it's still a guess but it's crazy high.
I asked them to get a sample tested at the pool store but NOT to buy anything but O rings, liquid chlorine and lubricant.
I should have gone with them.

I told them about the forum but they don't want to do it. They don't want to be bothered with it and I could tell they were overwhelmed. I even told them that they would learn more if they checked out the forum and problem solved on their own. That it's overwhelming at first but it will "click" once they start testing their own water...on and on.

I would really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks for replying so quickly.

    Hi Scott,

Here are the companies that I got from my sales rep in Phoenix.

" think Red Mountain Pools will do Scottsdale, or there is Crystal Clean Pools.
The owner is the President of the new IPSA group.
    Red Muntain is 480-641-2064
    Crystal Clean is 480-860-4413."

Let me know if you need others.
