    Default cal hypo shock

A friend gave me some 1 lb bags of cal hypo shock. I have 12,000 AG pool and normally just use more bleach when I shock.

Can I use this for shock or should I just stick to bleach?

    my numbers:

    Fc 5
    cc .5

    ph 7.2
    alk 100
    cya 30

I haven't tested calcium this year since I have a vinyl pool. But I'll do it and post my results tomorrow.

I'm guessing if my calcium is not too high, it's ok to use the cal hypo? And if it's high, stick to bleach?

    thanks.

Sure! If your Cal was in the high 300's or the mid 400's I'd say no, but 90? Use it and save money!

BTW, they may call it "shock" but it's not. It's simply Cal-Hypo packed in pre-measured bags.

"Shock" is a verb, something you do to your pool. It's not a noun, it's not something you put in it.

But the pool chem industry likes to bend the language to make it sound like you are buying more (and paying more) than you actually are.
