    Default Autopilot Questions for Sean

    Sean,
I have been running a WaterMaid system on my 40,000 IG VL pool for 6 years with little to no trouble other then being a bit undersized. It is now time to start looking for a new cell or upgrade to a unit that will handle a pool of this size. I have three questions for you.

    1. I found a ST-220 Autopilot Pool Pilot Soft Touch Power Supply that was factory refurbished. S/N#A402068R. Is there any way to tell if there is any warranty left on this unit and if not are there any concerns from buying a factory refurb unit?

    2. If I run this unit with the DIG-60 (I would rather be a little big then border line again) at 3000 - 3500 ppm salt what kind of power consumption do you feel I will see. I normally run a 6 hr on 6 hr off cycle.

    3. Do you think that a DIG-48 will be enough cell or should I stick to my first thought on the 60??

    Hello Michael,

The SC-60 would be the prefered cell for your size pool.

Regarding the Soft Touch unit, the number you provided, A402068R, indicates 2004 (the first number 4) and February (the next two numbers, 02, indicated the second month of the year)
The R indicates that it had been rebuilt. Rebuilt units would only go as long as the initial installation date or one year, whichever is to your advantage. Most units do not remain on our shelves for long periods of time so that even though the serial number is Feb, 2004, the best case is that there is a 25% of MSRP warranty credit remaining if something were to occur.

I would recommend spending the extra money and get a new system. It seems that the Soft Touch would not really bear any significant warranty.

What is the difference between the DIG200 and DIG220 controller/power supply? I only saw the DIG220 on the autopilot web site. I assume they both control the SC48 cell. Thanks.

There is no DIG200. This should be DIG-220 for the control unit. The manifold is 94105 (for the manifold with SC-36 cell), 94107 (w/ SC-48 cell), or 94113 (w/ SC-60 cell).
You can use any of the manifolds with either DIG-220 (Digital) or ST-220 (Soft Touch) control units.
