Nichole, I just had the same thing on an Astral pool last week (it's my wife's friend's mom's pool and I opened it on Mem day for them). There were some other small leaks that I didn't have the materials to seal (teflon didn't work) - so I went back on Sunday and fixed the threaded leaks with teflon and pipe dope- and brought some 2 - part epoxy putty. I mixed up the putty and 'smeared it' into the crack from the inside and outside then added another ~ 1/32" layer to the smear aprox 1/8" to either side of the crack and smoothed the edges - on both the in and out sides of the skimmer pot. I've patched MANY a cracked skimmer similarly -- it usually holds for a few years, if not longer.
In this case, the problem is that whoever closed the pool only put a plug in the skimmer port, even though I found 2 Gizzmos with the pool equipment, either using one of the Gizzmos or leaving the port open to drain would most probably prevented the problem
