Default Intelliflo or 4x160 pump replacement

I have a 7 year old IG gunite pool 20K gallons. My main pump Whisperflo failed this last weekend so I pulled the motor/pump from my slide/waterfall to run the pool for now. I was actually considering replacing the pump for efficiency reasons even before the failure. I live in southern California and I pay about .18 cent kwh up to about .21 cents. I also want to convert the pool to SWG. I will list the equipment etc and hopefully all of you smart pool people can help me decide if the 4-160 or intelliflo is right for me. When using SWG I was thinking the pump may need to run longer but I want to know if I can slow down the flow. Also since the pool sweep needs to run do I speed up the flow using the different program modes for a given time period in order to fully sweep the pool then go back to a slower speed for water turn over. I can get a $200 rebate from the electric company to put in either of these 2 pumps and I am hoping I can save energy for a fairly speedy payback. What do you all think??

Spa spills over into pool has 7 jets
Distance from equipment pad to far end of pool 65 feet.
Pipe is all 2" pvc with split main drain, 3 returns to pool plus the 7 jets in spa.
one skimmer, and a Hayward pool vac sweeper with 6 or 7 hose segments.

Rainbow Life guard chlorine feeder installed near pump.

    Purex 400K btu heater

Current pump 2HP Whisperflow with a service factor of 1.1. Model WFE-28 on motor.
DE filter Purex Triton 4000 series 58 sq ft filter area, design flow for Residential is 145 GPM. Filter runs average 12-15 PSI

    Thanks
    Greg

Since you live in SoCal, you might also want to consider an Ikeric (which I have). It is very similar to the 4x160 in that it has 4 user settable/selectable speeds. Go to Ikeric.com (not associated in any way, just satisfied). What is cool about that is you not only get 4 speeds, but you can set each of them. With a proper contol setup, you can tailor the pump speed for spa, solar, pool goodies (like waterfalls etc) EXACTLY the way you want.

In SoCal, you should get a MAJOR credit/rebate from the electric company for converting over, the Ikeric website has some info.

All of these pumps are actually 3-phase, 220v. They include some type of converter, either in a box separate from the pump (Ikeric), or integrated (I think it is that way with the Intelipump) so you just run a normal 220v single phase line into the pump or controller box and it gets converted to 3-phase. Your timer sits in front of the controller box/pump just like in a normal setup.

One caveat, if you have a 220v GFI breaker, you will need to swap that out for a normal 220v breaker as the 3-phase conversion will ALWAYS trip the GFI.

Thanks for the info on the Ikeric pump. I will check them out.
