We had one of those awhile back and it worked well. Notice I said HAD. Until the golden retrievers decided to chew the cord in two! (Wasn't plugged in of course, or we would probably have fried doggies!!)

I have the Nightliter. I don't have the colored lenses type, jus the 50 watt version. Yes, it hangs under the rail. I like it, but think I'll get another one. I also have a 27' round AG. One is good enough to light the pool, but not as bright as I would like. Just personal preference, I guess.

One more thing. Its completly water proof. The lense comes off to replace the bulb. It has a pretty good seal. To be on the safe side I would make sure any light or electrical device is plugged in or wired through a line with a GFCI.
