Heavy rain is a gift to us. We have to refill from the well and I begrudge every gallon I lose when I backwash and rinse. So, after a heavy rain I have the luxury of vacuuming to waste or doing a good backwash/rinse cycle. Then I test the water and add whatever got diluted by the rain.

Yep, I have seen a drop in PH from all our rain. Cover keeps the debris out but have to watch those levels.
