    Default Alkalinity Low??

Not sure if I need to do anything. I don't have one of those fancy test kits so I test with a drop kit. My TA is 60 and my PH is holding steady at 7.6. and has been for 4 days now. Water is extremely crystal clear. I was going to try and bring up the TA to at least 80 so I started adding Borax at a rate of 4 pounds over 4 days with this making no difference in my readings. I'm reading now that Borax isn't what I should have been adding. What did adding the Borax actually do to my overall chemistry?(If anything)
Should I just let the pool go for now as it looks the best it ever has in 12 years?
The pool is an IG 20x40 vinyl liner and 9 foot deep end. Thanks for the help!!
