    You could try the alternate methods of cleaning, like soaking in electric Dishwasher detergent or the water brush designed specifically for carts.
    I have a Hayward PowerFlo Matrix 1.5HP

    This is the start of my 2nd season with it. Its a great pump.

    I have never used any type of cleaning solution on it.

    Plus the other pain with this filter is it comes apart in the middle so everytime you want to open the filter and clean the cartridge you have to drain the water out of it. When I first decided to get my pool I didnt do enough research on the filter or find this forum. I wanted to go with the sand filter but let my bro in law talk me out of it. I have been regreting it since. It just seems that the sand filters are easier to run and less maintanence.
