Jandy pump problem

My 5 year old jandy 2.0 hp pump(motor) is making some grinding noises . It is not a steady noise but it happens more than 50% of the time. Is it something I can check( I am not a gearhead)? If I need to replace the motor any suggestions? Can I just put a new motor on the back?

My neighbor had this same issue but much worse. His pump was making this ear deafening grinding noise 100% of the time, it was so loud that we could hear it inside the home and outside it gave you a headache. We finally approach them and made mention of it, he was at work when the pump was running so was unable to hear it. Anyway his solution was he just replaced the motor unit and bolted it back in. You should be able to get one thru a pool parts company local or online.
