My experience has been similar. I am not interested to buy a replacement Hayward brand.
Had a 20' round AG pool installed last June and pressure guage on filter had condensation in it (and never worked). Asked the people at the pool store about it and they said I "didn't really need the gage".
While the filter was stored over the winter the gage developed corrosion so I brought it to the pool store and they replaced it (about two weeks ago). They also said they didn't have to replace it, but they did.
Now the new gauge has condensation and corrosion in it, in just the past two weeks. (Plus the filter is leaking a bit around the gauge). Has anyone had this problem?

Did you use teflon tape? You DO need a filter gauge on there.
Hi:
Thanks for the replies.
Actually, it doesn't use teflon tape. There are no threads. You have to push it into place and tighten a wing nut under the filter cap.

Mine is similar and uses 2 O-rings. One is a snug fit around the threads, it makes contact with the filter housing where it fits through the hole and is secured with the large nylon wing nut.
The other is about the diameter of the gauge housing and makes contact between the gauge and the filter housing. Note, the fitting on this gauge is on the rear of the gauge and the gauge mounts flush/recessed to the top of the filter housing.

Thanks, Steve, mine came with one o-ring so I only replaced one o-ring. I will check the model at the pool store when I return that pressure gauge.
