    Default Test Results

Opened pool today, not bad some dust and few leaves on the bottom and oh yes, 1 small dead mole...good thing the wife was out.
I'm using the remains of last year's kit as I wait for my replacement so I'm a little concerned about the dpd powder.
Results with Bens kit look like this. Comments? Thanks
    Vinyl IG 50K gallons.

    PH - 7.2
    OTO - 1 -2 PPM
    FC - 0.5
    CC - 3
    TC - 3.5
    Alk - 90

I was using the powder from last year until last week when I ran to Leslie's and got some tablets. My powder was wet, but the results were exactly the same with the powder vs the tablets. Looks to me like you just need to add some chlorine to get rid of those CC and raise the FC, but I'd wait on the pro's to reply first.

You need LOTS of chlorine--get your FC to 15ppm, regardless of your CYA. If CYA is from 60 to 90ppm, raise it to 20ppm. If CYA is 100 or more, raise FC to 25.

Something's about to start growing if you don't hammer it. If you do hammer it right now, you may be fine in 24-48 hours.

Forgot to mention CYA is less than 20PPM, added 4lb's today as a start. Going to use some tri-chlor pucks the rest of this week as I am traveling. I also plan to shock to 10PPM (all the bleach I have!) tonight.

    Re-ran tests with similar results:
    CYA: 20<
    PH: 7.2
    OTO: 1-2
    FC: 0.5
    CC: 1.0
    TC: 1.5
    ALK:100
    Temp:47

Ouch--tri-chlor pucks ON TOP of 4 lbs of CYA? Watch your levels VERY carefully--I suspect they will rise. Besides, with high CYA levels, if you put the correct amount of chlorine in, it should hold for a few days, easily.

Heh...heh..heh, 50K gal pool laughs at 4 pounds of CYA.
I know I hate adding the stuff but it is a necessary evil.

Back from my trip and well rested. Vacuumed entire pool and looking good. Still need to adjust the chems but going slow.

    Today's tests
    FC - 1.5
    CC- 0 or maybe .5
    TC - 2.0
PH - 7.2 will add 20 lb of BS to increase by .2
ALK - 90 would like to get this up 20 - 30 PPM, maybe after PH adj.
CAL - 110 vinyl pool just felt lik erunning test
CYA - still less than 20ppm but a little cloudier than before.
