Unhappy What's everyone's 2 cents here on pump time?

Daytime temps averaging 78-82, night time temps averaging 55-65. For about 2 weeks my pumps been running 24/7. Ameren CIPS is going to KILL me on my bill I know. We got stiffed this year on rate increases. SO, I have two set of trippers for my intermatic timer. Any suggestions on settings? I want to put them back on this evening, but I need help on this. Two cycles? One? None? How long etc? Water tests perfect, looks beautiful. HELP

Where do you get the trippers from. I lost mine from last year and cannot find replacements. I usually have mine on for about 18 hrs (longer with use)

The longer I run the pump, the better the pool looks. 24/7 currently because we only opened it about two weeks ago and I'm still in spring cleanup mode. I'd like to get a second set of timer trips also and then run in for 6-8 hours twice a day.

I found my second set at our Lowe's. They were about 5 bucks if I remember right. If no Lowes, maybe menards or order online is always an option from Intermatic

I've never run my pump for more than 8 hours a day (except when initially raising temperature) and have never in 8 years had any problems.

    If I'm using pucks, I run 24/7.

Once I start on bleach, I run about 12 hrs/day.

Of course run time is going to be dependent on many issues such as proximity to trees, hours of direct sunlight, bather load, etc, etc, etc. Those issues will determine the need to run more than any other issue.

My pool is close to a number of trees, so leaves and bugs are plentiful. Running 24/7 cuts down on dirt on the bottom of the pool. It also helps me keep my water more evenly balanced.

Opened pool yesterday, took off mesh cover, sediment and dead algea on the bottom, but water clear. Had been running pump off/on with temp increases and pollen bloom and adding bleach to keep it @ 3-5ppm as well for about 6 weeks. Pump time then was only during the heat of the day, maybe 10am-6pm.

During the swim season, I usually have my timer set from 8am-8pm. I will run it 24/7 occasionally when it gets REALLY hot down here and water temp goes over 90 degrees.

here is the website to go to for ordering according to the timer you currently need trippers for...pretty reasonable. I'm also tearing my house a part trying to find my other pair....Aggghhhhh!

I live in central Illinois and am worried about my next elec bill from Ameren. I had to run 24/7 for a week to clear it up. Then I switched to 6hrs during the day and 3hrs at night. I may reverse it since day time is peak.

I would look at how long it takes your pump to completely turn over the water one time, and use that as a guideline for total pump run time.
