Default Vaccuum always hangs on stairs

I have a zodiac Kontiki automatic pool cleaner for my ABG pool. It's a hassle using because I have to baby sit it because it always get caught on the stairs, sometimes I think I'd be better off using a manual vac head. Anybody able to solve this particular problem. I recall the manual saying you could get a larger ring to help if this became a problem, but I;m not really sure how a larger ring would help me ????

    thoughts????

it's a typical scenario - especially with drop in steps.

I found that in most cases, it happens when the hose pushes through the handrail uprights, at this point the vac decides to stick near the stairs.

I am in the process of tying in some plastic lattice between my handrail uprightsthat should keep the hose from travelling into that space and the vac should also be aided in finding it's way out of that area.
