There have been many discussions of pH meters on this board in the past and the general consenus is that they are more trouble than they are worth. They require constant calibration, calibration standard liquids, and the electrodes are delicate and do have to be replaced every so often. If you are willing to do this and have trouble reading a phenol red pH test then they might be worthwhile for you but if you are looking for something to make testing faster and easier then you need to take into account the need for proper calibration and storage of the units (many of them require the electrodes to be stored wet in a special solution).
