    Default Rust Stain on Liner

I had my roof replaced last year prior and several nails ended up in my pool that I didn't discover until opening this year. Fortunately there were no punctures in the liner. However, they did leave rust stains on the liner. I read in another thread that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser can be used to remove this stain. Is that true? If so then how do I apply it?

    Thanks,

    Riles

Disregard my question about application methods. I thought that the Mr. Clean product was a powder or liquid, but it appears to be a cleaning pad. So it seems as though I can dive to the bottom of the pool and rub this pad right on the liner.

Take some vitamin c tablets and put them into a sock and rub this on the stains. They should clear right up.

The magic eraser, while I think is an excellent product, IS abrasive, and could potentially 'scratch' dark color off your liner in those spots...

I think there was another thread somewhere that mentions not to use the magic eraser in the presence of Chlorine.

I think the consensus on that ended up being that the chlorine present in the pool was too dilute to cause problems. You should not use the eraser with, say, a 10% bleach solution for cleaning surfaces.

Rust stains don't seem to react easily with vitamin C, the magic eraser works very well on small rust stains. It will not damage the liner - if you use it right. Just use gentle pressure and it should come right off. Let us know how this works for you. It also works well on the scum line that sometimes forms at the top of the pool. It will not hurt to use it with the chlorine in the pool water.

The magic eraser works great, in my opinion. I used it on a couple of small stains on the bottom of my pool when I opened this spring (stains I assumed were from leaves sitting on the bottom) and also used it to scrub up the skimmer. Just a couple swipes and the stains came right out.
