    Default 6% ultra bleach

I have been buying 6% ultra at Aldi store for 99 cents per 3/4 gallon jug. Has anyone found it cheaper than that?

    Red face ultra bleach

I am wondering if it is ok to use ultra bleach in the pool. There is more and more of it and getting harder to find regular bleach. Thanks

Ultra is 6% and regular bleach is 5.25%. You can do the math based upon pricing in your area, but the Ultra is a better deal here!

Of course. It's fine. It's merely 6% solution rather than 5.25%.

One gallon of 6% will add 6ppm of chlorine to 10,000 gallons of water.

One gallon of 5.25% will add 5.25ppm of chlorine to 10,000 gallons of water.

Just to make things more confusing, Clorox Regular bleach is now 6% (at least where I live). But it does seem that other brands have Regular at 5.25% and some even lower while their Ultra is 6%. When possible, see if the percentage is on the bottle and always use unscented when using bleach.

That's a great price. I always use wal-mart ultra bleach, and it's $1.28 around here too.

The Wal Mart is $1.28 here as well. I stopped into Aldi (I had never been in one before but know they have Wal Mart "fits" in Germany) and wham saw the .99 display. Costco runs about $1.20.

Check the prices of the 12.5% stuff at the pool store. Sometimes that's the best buy. One in my area (ok the one I work at!) sell the 2.5 gallon carboy for $3.99 for a refill. (There is a one time $5.99 charge for the carboy and then you just bring the empty back and pick up a new one.) That's the equvalent of slightly more than 5 gallons of ultra bleach for $4! Dosing is easier also. 1 oz raises 1000 gallons 1 ppm FC so if you have a 16,000 gallon pool each 16 oz. (1 pint) will raise it 1 ppm or if you have a 22,000 gallon pool each 22 oz will raise it 1 ppm, etc.
