Default Attn: Intex Pool Ladder Recall

To all of you intex, easy set, and sun n sand pool owners!
The "sectional" pool ladders are being recalled.

    http://www.intexcorp.com/bulletin/us/

This affects the 52, 48, and 42 inch pools x all diameters.
This only affects the 2 piece ladders, where you have to put the legs together with a coupling. This coupling can fail, and is reported by http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07147.html to have over 400 incidents of injury, including major lacerations requiring stitches!!!!!
Goto the above site, intex is sending free replacements!
This recall does not affect pools from 2007, or that have a label on the side stating a "300lb load capacity"

Our "easy set" (yeah right, 6 days later) and still working
but, it is a start to a wonderfull "pool owner lifestyle"
upgrade is already planned... so don't laugh at it, its our first, and not the last!

This is ONLY for ladders sold in the last year or so--since 2006.

My Intex ladder (though out of service for 4 seasons already--and going on 5) was purchased in 2000 and the recall does NOT affect it.

If your ladder is from 2005 or earlier you are most likely not affected.

this is true... why intex decided to cheap up the ladder is beyond me. But from what they are telling me, any of them that have this coupling, should be inspected, at least.
Ironically enough, I acquired a ladder from the same person I got my filter from. It is a composite ladder, very heavy, so I won't even use my replacement...lol
