Default HELP! I can't figure this out!

I have been getting a yellowish substance in my pool that is VERY easily swept/vacuumed up on a consistent basis the past month or so (every week and a half to two weeks). My levels are perfect - I even brought a sample to the pool store and their readings matched mine. When this shows up I usually brush the pool, let the skimmer and the barrucuda do their thing, and all is fine....till is shows up AGAIN. The chlorine levels are fine, like I said ALL is perfect but this keeps showing up regardless. Could it be yellow algae? Or could it simply be dust? We had a new roof put on just a few weeks ago but the dust from that was a red color, I can't imagine it's that. But I don't know that this could be algae if my chemical readings are fine. HELP! Any ideas?

Pollen from some trees is yellow and can look a lot like dust.

I second JohnT's suggestion that it might be pollen. I can tell by how much I'm suffering these days that there's a lot of that stuff blowing around these days!

Another possibility is just dust and blown over dirt. I get a lot of this that settles on my beach entry and benches. I just brush them off every now and then.

You say your levels are "perfect".

I'll bet most of the members here would like to know what those numbers are, before they try and figure out what it could be.
Why BBB? Because money can't buy happiness, but saving it sure can!

The yellow stuff could very well be pollen at this time of year depending on where you live. Looks like a fine dust that is stirred up easily and will go right through a sand filter. Dug up this pic from last May when I had a really bad case of the stuff. Sucked some off the bottom of the pool near a seam where it settled, then looked at it under a microscope. Pretty obvious what it was. The lower right panel shows the calibrations for the other fields.

Howbout - check/read the very top sticky, could possibly be that if it's not pollen. Regular cl levels and even std shock levels don't affect this stuff.
Probably still too cold to get in your and check if it's got a slimy feel.
