Default Disregard if been mentioned, but ...

Anyone heard of these? They say made for certain systems, but I wonder if they'll fit any three-inch chlorinator.

    ACCU-TABS BLUE 55 LB. BUCKET
    PPG Accu-Tabs Blue 55 lb. Bucket *
    * Accu-Tab three-inch blue calcium hypochlorite tablets are easy to handle and store. They are made specifically for the Accu-tab chlorinating systems. Tablets contain no stabilizer (cyanuric acid) and, therefore, do no contribute to stabilizer buildup.

Never use cal-hypo in a chlorinator that has been used for dichlor or trichlor. I believe cal-hypo dissolves a little faster than di/trichlor and has special chlorinators.

I would not use these tabs in a system that has had trichlor. After reviewing the data on the page these tabs may not work in a trichlor feeder. The feeders for these tabs work by allowing the tab to disolve from the bottom on a defuser plate. Trichlor tabs are imersed in water and slowly disolve from all sides. This product would disolve too rapidly in a trichlor feeder. I would not recomend using these tabs in a trichlor feeder.

"special chlorinators"? Pure BS (barnyard slush) and hype. In your water, chlorine is chlorine. Period.

Cal-Hypo is well-known and well-documented. It is THE most volatile form of chlorine available to home-owners, but if handled properly is fine.

There's no free lunch. Cal-Hypo adds calcium to your water. Sooner or later this becomes its own problem--like when you have 500 or 600ppm and your water goes milky white.

Cal-Hypo must NEVER be used in an in-line chlorinator or mixed with other forms of chlorination--prior to being dissolved in your pool.
IT IS DEADLY DANGEROUS TO MIX CHLORINE TYPES!

Again, once it's dissolved in your water, one chlorine type is just like another, other than the ADDITIONAL by-products they release.

Accu-Tab chlorinators work diffrent from trichlor chlorinators. Here is a faq on the system. I would not use Accu-Tabs in a trichlor system.

Carl I am not tring to ruffell your feathers here. I do agree all chlorene is the same when it is in the water. I agree DONT MIX TYPES as well but this feeder is diffrent.

Not ruffled. I missed the part that these tabs were specifically made for that company's specific feeder.

Still, if you EVER used Tri-Chlor in that feeder (I don't know if that's possible), my warning STILL holds.

Plus, ALL cal-hypo adds calcium. This is why I don't like auto-feeders, other than peristaltic pumps for liquid chlorine/bleach. The desire to capitalize on the auto-feeding leads you to badly over-stabilized or over-calcinated water.

I have a calcium problem already so I dont use calhypo. From what I have learned here I use mainly bleach with few trichlor tabs in my feeder.
