We have a kreepy crawly suction side that came with our pool. I don't know if other cleaners run into this problem, but it does tend to get stuck in certain areas. For this reason, I kinda have to be around, especially when it gets stuck near or above the water line and starts sucking air... then the pump looses its prime and well, its a pain in the butt. I think I may just hand vacumn the pool this year, its only a 16x34 and I dont have any leaf problems. On the pro side, they are very cheap and if you can get yours set up properly and it "likes" your pool shape then you could go for it.
I was also told the suction vibration is not too good for your pipes in the long term.

I would check these cleaners out. The pressure side does not require a booster and runs at lower PSI than most cleaners and the suction requires less suction than most.

My suction side cleaner does a great job.

Many pressure-side cleaners do NOT require a pump. They work well, but do NOT compare to robotics which "polish" your water as they work.

I totally agree. If I had to do it over again, I would probably go with a robotic. My only point was that for "boosterless cleaners", and I know there are many, ThePoolCleaner requires the lowest PSI of all of them and therefore will work with a low HP main pump where other brands may not.

It would be nice to have a cleaner that I could leave in the pool and have run daily off of my control system to get the random stuff that falls in between the times that I run my robotic.

I may try to add The Pool Cleaner to my setup.

I've got the polaris 340..although it gets slammed on the forums it does do what it's advertised to do-

climbs the walls, steps and sucks up every thing that gets in it's way.

it was a throw in by the pool company however I think Id pay the 300.00 or so if i had to purchase it.

I'm sure there are way better options but I can't afford 500.00+ on anything that cleans the pool.

    so this works for me!

when people refer to "polishing" the water... are you referring to the taking out of those fine particles that you see at night in front of your pool lights?

    Like a DE scrub?
