Default Cut my pool cover into fours...

...and it still works great! We have a smaller pool (13x26 freeform\fiberglass). I was real nervous about cutting it, but it was such a pain to take off and put back on due to the freeform design. So I held my breath and cut it into 4 manageable pieces. At first it kept blowing off, but it had several large airbubles keeping it from being completely flat. Once we iron those out and pointed our water jets down a bit...hasnt budged in over a week. We also had to make sure it didnt overlap anywhere as that would alow the wind to sneak under and blow it up. Anyway, we've had some strong winds lately and it still hasnt budged. Best part is...if we get a hole, dry rot, or something happends to one of the pieces, we only have to replace that peice instead of the whole thing.

Anyway, I know there are a few posts about doing this as I searched all over trying to find someone that did it. Few people seemed to try. Well, if you have the nerve...go for it. Worked for me.

PS. Tried the solar sun rings...couldnt get them to lay flat enough on the pool and the wind kept blowing them on top of each other. The outer ring that is supposed to be full of air pops very easily as well. All in all, it's a great concept...but it's not perfected yet IMOP. I have 7 if anyone wants $15 each.

Yep, we did that last year and it worked like a charm. Here are some photos. And that reminds me . . . TraceyB wanted additional pictures of the holes we cut into the steps. I'll get those up on the site in the next few days.

I cut my in half and used this:

So far it seems to work pretty well and fairly easy to pull the cover out of the pool.

    Mas,
So you are happy with the roller? I will only use the cover for 3- 4 months a year so I want to store it out of the way after that. Does it really roll up as easy as the demo video shows? Any cons about the product you can think of?
This could be exactly what I am looking for as I have a 20 x 42 that is too big to handle in 1 piece.
    Thanks in advance,

Nothing is ever as easy as shown in the adds but I would say for the most part it rolls up pretty easy. Depending on the shape of the pool and where you put the poles, very very key, unrolling can be a bit tricky but once you get the hang of it and learn how it behaves, it is pretty easy. I can do it by myself and I will say that it is far far easier than pulling it out by hand. Also. if you cannot use a conventional roller due to the shape of the pool, then it is the only way to go.
