Default Wiring 2 speed motor - Frustrated!

What started out as great luck has turned extremely frustrating! My home warranty service replaced my pool pumps last week (both main and Polaris). They put in a 2 speed motor in place of my old single, but set it to low. I am trying to add a toggle switch to it.

It is an AO Smith motor and factory toggle switch, but AO is unwilling to support it. I've called numerous times and they will not provide the wiring diagram for either the motor or the switch. My pool supply company has tried too and they haven't received any assistance.

Here are the specs of what I am trying connect. It is the B979 model (a Century 1081 model) and the toggle switch (17590450).

There are 3 screws on the motor. The screw labeled 1 has a purple connection, screw 2 has none, screw 3 (with numbers 3 and 4) has a purple connection next to 4. The toggle switch has a white and yellow connection.

    What do I do???
    THANKS!!!!

Your typical 2-speed pump will have 3 1/4" male spades.
    1 is a common for line 1.
2 and 3 are for line 2, they are what make it a two speed.
One of them is low speed and the other high, your toggle is what directs the current through the switch to the chosen speeds spade.
Don' use the screws to attach your wiring, purchase female spades.
If you or your installer are unclear on the manner in which to wire the switch to the motor pay an electrician to do it on your behalf. All it should be is a service call, these fitting are dirt cheap and he'll be intimate with the job at hand.

He'll be done quicker than you can write the check for his services.

I'm really shocked that the pool company is unclear on the proper wiring of this.

    See ya,
    Kelly
