It could possibly introduce nitrates from fertilizer could would cause a huge chlorine demand or algae problems;or it could introduce phosphates which might or might not lead to algae problems (most likely not, if both nitrates and phosphates are present and there are algae problems then just removing the phosphates probably will be little help).
