Default decisions decsions.. - controllers this time

    Hey all,
I'm at the point where I have to decide on an automation system. My builder is very familiar and happy with Pentair, so that's the brand I'm going with, but which model? Right now the choices are the Easythouch and the Intellitouch.

Pentair's website kinda stinks, but from what I can gather, the I7 is a more expandable system in the long run (not in the # of features/valves etc, but the ways they can be controlled), but the easytouch is the cheaper system.

    Anyone have suggestions either way?

I agree Pentair doesnt do a good job in showing a comparison between the Easytouch and Intellitouch. My PB is going with the Easytouch. The Intellitouch system is the newer system and most likely costs more.

You may be able to call Pentair and talk to someone in their products/sales department that can explain the two products in detail.

Also there are some pdf files (data sheets) for each product on their site that may give you a better idea of what each model can do.

The Intellitouch system works well with the Intelliflow pump and if they had this combo when I was building my pool, it would have been on my list of choices. The Intelliflow pump would probably pay for itself and the controller in a few years with energy savings so I would consider it.

If you decide agains the Intelliflow pump then it probably does not make sense to go with the controller.

My PB wants to use the EasyTouch system and I am up in the air on what to do. I am 99% sure they said they would do the Jandy RS8 with PDA for the same price. I know a lot of people like the Jandy. I still have not decided.
