Default Polaris 180 - Wall fitting valve blowing water

With the colder weather the wall fitting for the Polaris 180 is now blowing water out the side spring-loaded vent. This is the plastic fitting that holds the little screen basket and has a round spring-loaded valve pointed out one side. This is new behavior. Is it related to temperature or should I be looking for a different cause?

    Thanks,

Tom, the valve is doing what it's supposed to do, namely keeping too much water (pressure/ volume) from going to the Polaris. Apparently you now have more water being diected to that line - this could be from shutting down a water feature, closing a set of returns, having a closed or obstructed return or you may have done something to increase the flow across the system - cleaned the filter, fixed a leak, unclogged the impeller or pump basket or removed an obstruction in a suction line, bypassed the solar or upgraded the pump. Some of these are unlikely but have you done anything like what I've suggested?
I'd love to hear more about this when you figure out what happened. Good Luck!

I haven't made any of those changes, beyond the regular filter cleaning maintenance. I notice too that there's more air in the system. I'll let you know what I find.
