Default Pool Rover Plus -vs- Aquabot Turbo

I am getting sick and tired of my polaris suction side cleaner and replaced some parts (polaris was nice and sent for free), but it does not work well.

I have an IG vinyl liner pool and looking to get either the Pool rover Plus or Aquabot Turbo. Which would you go for??

I hear rumors that the turbo was wear the winyl liner out, but can be false, but love the fact that the Turbo can go up walls and steps, unlike the rover, all it does is bottom of pool.

Which would you recommend in my setup? Thanks!!

I have a Pool Rover Plus. I bought it for exactly the reason you said, I was worried about it damaging the vinyl liner. Right now I use it in conjunction with a Pool Buster. Pretty good combo! (search the forums, you will find extensive opinions on both). Here is my take after a full season with the Rover (which we have nicknamed "Rover"):

PROS - It does an excellent job at vacuuming the pool, pulls in more stuff than you can believe. BUT, you cannot watch it - it will drive you crazy because it seems to go over the same spot again and again - but if you go away and come back 2 hours later, the pool is clean. Works well with large leaf loads too. Doesn't touch the vinyl. Doesn't get hung up on stairs or main drain covers. Does a GREAT job with blown in dirt and sand with the fine bag. It is FAST, one or 2 hours for my 20x40 pool (I will run it twice to pick up big leaf loads sometimes). Doesn't do vertical walls, but DOES climb up the side slopes on the deep end. Cheaper - I got my for about $600 new on the web at an authorized dealer.

CONS - Doesn't do the deep end corners well at all, leaves little pile of dirt/sand there. Doesn't climb to the water line. Cord tends to get tangled up, especially if you run it twice without switching the turn direction. The biggest thing is the lack of scrubbing. I find that I have to brush my pool every week or so to get rid of slickness, even though I keep my chlorine correct.

I'm not 100% sure I would buy the Rover again IF I knew that an Aquabot would do a better job AND not have more problems (such as damaging the liner). I would love to have both and run side by side tests in my pool, but don't have that option! Thats my 2 cents!

    thank you for your feedback.

I called the dealer and they told me since I live in all season weather that the aquabot would not last as long b/c of its moving/wear and tear parts. Unlike them ,where there from New Jersey area, that they use the aquabots, but only in summer season when pool is in use. He highly either recommending either the pool rover plus or aqua Jet.

He said they were really no cons for either, but that the PRP (pool rover plus) only does floor, while the aqua jet will go up walls and has rubber wheels and not plastic one like on the PRP.

The price difference between them was $100.00, but were built the same basically.

So today after the nice talk w/ KEN, which was very helpful in my decision, I ordered the PRP. I can manage to use my brush to clean the walls and let the PRV clean the bottom of the pool. So why not, right?

They also tossed in a leaf bag or something like that which is a bigger volume bag to the leafs ,dirt or whatever it can suck up (I think it is called Mesh filter bag)

    Thanks!!

    My Pool Rover Plus review

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to touch back about my pool rover plus. I ran it twice last week and this cleaner is amazing!!

My pool had allot of leafs and also a newspaper sitting at the bottom (thanks to the wind). Let me tell you, it sucked all of it up.

The pool rover plus does not got up a direct wall, but I have a vinyl liner pool and on the deep end it has a steep incline along the sides of the pool, which the Rover plus does get all the way to the top of it then backs down. I was told that the rover plus had plastic wheels, well my don’t. They are rubber.

I will honestly say this cleaner does an excellent job cleaning the crud off the floor. Now the RP does not scrub, but I can handle using a brush to clean the sidewalls and floor as long as the RP does the rest, which it does. IMHO, this is the best $500.00 I spend for my pool, well minus my SWG system
