    Default Constuction advice - protecting coping

    I'm doing an extensive pool remodel, tearing out all the deck, coping, tile, plaster, plumbing, electrical etc. We're getting to the point where the new coping (concrete safety edge blocks) is going to be installed along with the tile edge. I would like to protect the new white coping from permanent staining by dirt during the plumbing demo and grading prior to pouring of the concrete. Can anyone recommend a method of "sealing" the coping which would prevent their staining during the balance of the construction?
    additional info:
    inground; 20,000 gallon; originally built in 1969; kidney shaped
    with spa; currently lot is dirt and pool has been chipped down to
    the concrete shell; intercity small backyard; 1000 sqft of concrete;
    500 sq ft of pool.

    Do all the demo, plumbing and grading before you install the coping. I would install the coping last then do a final grade of your gravel base for the concrete with a hand rake. If you are worried about the concrete staining the coping when installing the concrete deck then you could lay a thin mil plastic over the coping and down the back side of the coping; then as the concrete is installed put your expansion foam in level with the back of the coping. You can cut out the plastic after you zip the top off of the expansion foam.

    Hope this helps
