    Default Doorbell?

Any suggestions for a signaling device at my back gate. I don't want friends and neighbors just walking thru the gate or yelling over the fence to see if we are back there. A doorbell would be cool but I don't want to run electric all the way back there.

How about a battery-operated wireless doorbell? There is such a thing, isn't there?

When we were kids, our folks had a post mounted bell out front. Similar in appearance to a small liberty bell. When they wanted us to come home, they'd just go out and ring the bell. I'm sure you could get something like that. It'd be not only functional, but attractive too.

That's an excellent idea. Much better than mine.

Maybe you could even get something along the lines of a brass ship bell.

    That would be nifty.

Ship bell, thats exactly what I had in mind yes!

I've been going nuts asking Google for fence bell, post bell, small liberty bell, bell with clapper etc etc etc. I didn't know they were called ship bells.

Now I can quit driving myself crazy looking. Thanks!

I've looked at brass bells and will probably go that way. I also found a wireless/weatherproof doorbell with a flashing strobe that would be cool also.
    Thanks for the input!
