    Default raising alk

    Here are my spa results

    bromine 6.40
    pH 7.5
    hard 190 ppm
    alk 50 ppm

how do I raise my alk? I know the steps to reduce.

The pool company suggests spa life buffer.

The pool co probably makes $$$ off of 'spa life buffer' (but it's the same thing as ... baking soda ). They may market as 'sodium hydrogen carbonate' but it's chemically equivilent (for the buffer) as baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), they may add some scent or dye to perfume and color your pool, but the buffer is 'baking soda'. In a spa, the amount added to raise is measured in tbs. rather than lbs. , but the chemistry should be the same
