Im my experiece it has been quite commen for pool builders to install SWGs and only put salt in the pool and not any stabilizer (or not to put enough stabilzier in the pool) so it is possible that your builder did not. I agree with Chem Geek about getting your own test kit and testing the CYA yourself. If the pool has no CYA you will find that adding it to the level recommended by your SWG manufacturer (uaually 60-80 ppm) will allow you to run your SWG at a lower output and prolong the cell life. It will also help maintain your FC in the water during times of direct sun. Most state health departments now recommend a minimum FC of 2 ppm and from my experiences with customers indicates that a FC of 3-4 ppm and a CYA of 60-80 ppm with a SWG produces an algae free pool.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely get myself a CYA test kit and add CYA as recommended. I believe the SWG manual recommends around 75 ppm. Anything to prolong the cell life since I know those things aren't cheap.
