What kind of pool? 25 is fine, but may bleach your liner if it's vinyl.
OK! Here we go.
I've battled this algae long enough!
I poured 4 gals of 6% bleach in my 10,000 gal. pool.
With a CYA level of 40PPM my level should be 15PPM but I will be going to 25PPM CL. I plan
on brushing and pouring in a gal each evening till the crap is gone from the bottom.
Anything I should know?
I will keep you posted
Thanks matt4x4

Above ground vinyl. Approx. 10,000 gal.
I will take the risk of fading the liner, the sun has done this already and it's only 3 months old. Florida sun you know.
update!
water looks a lot better, still a little cloudy. Small amount of the "stuff" this morning I added another Gallon of 6% and swept the pool. Stopped by the house at lunch-time, water test the best I could tell buy deluting the sample was 20 PPM. So I added another gallon of 6% and installed the Baracuda and let it run till I got home about 4 hours. I will re-test the CL this evening and add if needed.

Update #2
Just got home this evening and the pool water is crystal clear! My PH was a little high 8.0 so I added 1 cup of acid to bring that down, the total chlorine level is about 5PPM but the free chlorine is about 10PPM is this a problem.

Go back and measure again...total chlorine = free chlorine + combined chlorine, so total can't be 5 if free is 10.........

You can get a false reading of ph when your chlorine is up to 20 - 25ppms. You may have gotten your ph down too much. Don't add anymore acid!
