Thumbs up TIP: Black Algae Removal

OK, so I had a bit of a black algae problem.

So after reading through the forum here I found that the best way to deal with it was to rub a thrichlor(sp?) puck in to it. So I give it a try and it worked pretty well on what I could reach from the deck. The problem was getting the deeper part while holding breath underwater and trying to rub while not pushing away from the wall. My first thought was to fill the SCUBA tank and attack it that way..... then I had a redneck revelation.... I needed a puck on a stick.

OK, since I said redneck, and if you read the thread on my "trash bag method" you know Duct Tape will be involved. The problem is, you can't just tape the puck to a stick. Brace yourself for the brilliant part here.... what you do is take a clamp put the puck in the clamp and tape the clamp to the stick.

Now for puck on a stick:

It worked pretty good. The puck stayed in the clamp and I had a ton of leverage to rub it in to the wall.

BTW: The pics will probably be gone sometime tomorrow as I'm changing ISPs. The guy should be here any minuet to install the fiber optic..... I'm not a complete redneck

I've had good luck with the direct application of tri-chlor to black algae spots, but I agree, this beats the hold your breath / scuba tank method for convenience!
