i haven't, but like the idea of taking the multiport inside..the added benefit is opportunity when resetting up things in spring to put some filter cleaner in before the season starts and flush clean the sand.

I, too, remove the multiport valve and store it inside. I lube the gasket with teflon lube and seal it in a zip-lock with all the air pressed out. Actually, I do that with all the quick-release gaskets, too.
I drain the filter and cover it with a contractor grade garbage bag and duct tape it to keep it tight. I ONLY tape on the bag, not the filter.
