Default Pricing for exposed aggregate decking

Just got a price quote of $14,000 for 1,200 Sq. Ft. of exposed aggregate decking and I think my whole neighborhood heard my chin hit the floor! I was expecting to spend $10,000 at the very most. Does this price seem high or am I just clueless???..... Any help I can get here would be greatly appreciated!!!

The price in S Arkansas is about $5.00 to $6.00 per sq ft. I thought that I wanted it on my deck, but my PB said that it would really hurt bare feet. Although beautiful, it is not comfortable. Have you considered decorative concrete work?
I settled for brushed concrete at $3.50 per sq ft, but later I may add the decorative finish. My deck will be installed this week, if the weather permits. New vinyl IG pool is filling now.

I got a price of $11,500 for the brushed concrete. I'm still waiting to meet with 2 other Concrete Co. and I'm hoping their prices are at least a little bit lower. I too have a new vinyl IG pool. Filled it last week but will have to wait for the ground to settle before we do the decking. Probably sometime in March. Waiting will at least give me time to save some more money if the additional quotes I get aren't any lower!!

    I sell this deck for 5.50 per sq/ft with a 500sq/ft minimum.
When there's no pool construction involved I sell it for 7.50

    See ya,
    Kelly

In NJ, I paid $8.75/sq ft from the PB (Carlton) and the extra decking I ordered the day of the pour was $7 direct from the contractor.
