    Default cya and saltwater chlorination

I noticed that the recommended levels of stabilizer on the cya chart are a lot lower than my clorinator said to use. Why is there a difference? I am supposed to keep 80 ppm cya and 1 to 3 ppm chlorine.

This is a subject of great debate on the forum and I had the same question myself this summer in preparation for my SWCG becoming operational.

See "The China Shop" part of the forum and look for the thread on CYA and salt chlorinators. You'll be amazed at the discourse!

As for me, I'm far too new in my experience with my SWCG to recommend one thing or another. I can only tell you that my SWCG's recommended levels are like yours, 60-80 CYA and 1-3 FC. Currently, I'm keeping my FC in accordance with the Best Guess Chart at a lower CYA (45-50).
