Default Quick fix for leaky return line

I know this isn't proper, but I am trying to come up with a quick and cheap "band aid" for my leaking pool. It is in 1 of 2 return lines and I think I could get by with only 1 return. So I am thinking I could just fill up the line with something like a foam noodle to block the water and the leak. Any ideas or suggestions?

I am new to pool ownership so take it easy on me por favor!

    AG or IG?
I wouldn't push anything into a line because the water pressure may push it further, then it's permanently blocked....
What about adding a valve - that's relatively quick....

It splits somewhere underground, don't know where. If I put something in, it would be pushed to the insertion point.
